Payroll Manager – EMEA – 5 day per week requirement
London

I’m working with a global investment firm to hire a Payroll Manager into their London team. This is a well-established, international business with a strong operational backbone and a continued focus on improving and scaling core functions.

They’re looking for someone to take ownership of payroll across multiple EMEA jurisdictions, while supporting broader transformation and automation initiatives.

The role

You’ll manage end-to-end payroll across several countries including the UK, Denmark, Poland, and the UAE, with potential to expand further. This role goes beyond processing – it’s about ensuring accuracy, control, and consistency across a complex, multi-country payroll landscape.

Working closely with HR, Reward, and external providers, you’ll play a key role in delivering a reliable payroll service while helping evolve processes to support future growth.

There’s a strong emphasis on improving ways of working, introducing automation where possible, and building a scalable, well-controlled payroll function.

Key responsibilities

  • Own and deliver monthly payroll across multiple EMEA jurisdictions
  • Partner with HR and Compensation teams to validate payroll inputs
  • Review outputs thoroughly, resolving issues with external providers
  • Maintain and enhance payroll processes, controls, and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements
  • Track and respond to regulatory changes across regions
  • Act as a key contact for payroll-related queries
  • Support the move towards a more integrated and scalable payroll model
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and automation initiatives

What they’re looking for

  • Experience managing multi-country payroll end-to-end
  • Strong understanding of cross-border payroll considerations
  • Experience working with outsourced payroll providers
  • Experience with Workday
  • Advanced Excel skills, particularly around data validation and reconciliation
  • High attention to detail and a strong controls mindset
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
  • CIPP qualification preferred

Why this role
You’ll be stepping into a role with real ownership and visibility across the business. It’s a chance to take a well-functioning payroll setup and make it more efficient, more scalable, and better aligned to a global organisation.
