Transparency as an Operational Advantage: Re-designing the Global People Infrastructure

6 May 2026

“90% of employees say transparency in pay, benefits, and raises is important. 50% describe it as essential”Remote’s Payroll Report 2026

Transparency is becoming both a cultural and legal expectation, with organisations that seek to embed transparency as part of their core strategy earning many advantages beyond simple employee confidence. Designing your People systems for visibility and self-service, not just functionality, unlocks a host of advantages for your organisation, from workforce planning to cost control and strategic decision making.
Transparency is emerging as a critical differentiator, not simply in the context of employee expectations around pay and fairness, but as a core operational capability.

As organisations scale across borders, the complexity of managing people, pay, and compliance has grown exponentially. What was once a back-office, operational concern is now firmly on the strategic agenda for Chief People Officers and Executive People leaders. Yet many organisations are still operating within fragmented ecosystems, multiple payroll providers, regional compliance solutions, and layered HR systems, creating limited visibility and increasing both risk and inefficiency.

Technology will ultimately continually evolve, giving organisations the opportunity to rethink their global people infrastructure more holistically. The question for today’s leaders is no longer whether change is needed but how to design systems that turn transparency into a genuine operational advantage. Transparency in decision making, pay, leadership, mobility and much more. When employees can see fairness in action, engagement rises, and turnover risk falls, showing that transparency is not a trend, but an operational advantage.

The drive for transparency must continue to be carefully balanced with control. Data governance, security, and local regulatory nuances remain non-negotiable, particularly in regions with complex employment frameworks. The challenge, therefore, is not just increasing visibility but doing so in a way that is structured, secure, and scalable.

Hosted by Joseph Nabarro (Director at Annapurna), we are delighted to partner with Remote to bring together an exclusive group of People leaders for a fascinating, attendee-led conversation around some of the most pressing issues in the current climate. We will likely follow the agenda below:

  • Tool sprawl vs. control – Are we past the tipping point where ‘best of class’ HR tools are creating more problems than they solve? Where do disconnected payroll, HRIS, and compliance tools create inefficiencies, risk exposure, and poor employee experience?
  • Balancing transparency with control – Beyond salary matching, what outcomes (transparency, financial control, mobility, choice) are you prioritising to build trust and continuity with your distributed talent?
  • The next wave: automation, AI, and consolidation – Where are organisations investing to reduce manual work and create a more unified global people ecosystem?

Remote is the all-in-one HR and payroll platform to find, hire, manage, and pay your entire team everywhere.
