Representing a long-standing client

I’m supporting a global organisation to appoint a permanent Global Payroll Manager to take ownership of all international payroll activity, reporting, and compliance across a multi-country footprint. The role is London-based and blends hands-on BAU delivery with active involvement in a global payroll system implementation.

This is a genuinely global remit – managing payroll across the UK, Germany, Canada, China, Japan, the US, and supporting a small team based in London, Frankfurt, and Montreal.

What the role covers

  • Full ownership of end-to-end global payroll delivery across multiple jurisdictions

  • Overseeing BAU processing for employees, trustees, and board members

  • Ensuring compliance with local tax, reporting, and audit requirements

  • Day-to-day management and support of a distributed payroll team

  • Playing a key role in an ongoing global payroll system implementation (MorePay), partnering closely with project leads

  • Consolidated international reporting and month-end compliance

What you need to bring

  • Strong experience overseeing global payroll operations, ideally including exposure to Germany, China, France, Switzerland

  • A track record managing payroll across multiple regions (UK, Germany, Canada, China, Japan, US particularly helpful)

  • Ability to manage a small team across different locations

  • Confidence navigating tax compliance, audits, and multi-country reporting

  • Comfortable balancing BAU processing with project work

  • Willingness to be in the Canary Wharf office 2-3 days per week, particularly early on

Team & Scale

  • 360 global employees (majority UK-based; notable hub in Montreal)

  • Payroll team of three across London, Frankfurt, and Montreal (with direct oversight of the Montreal team member)
