The EU Pay Transparency Directive has been a long time coming. However, we’re now at a stage where most member countries have adopted the directive’s regulations into National law.
The Directive aims to push the burden of pay discrimination disputes onto the employer. Changes include mandatory salary transparency for job roles, a ban on salary history inquiries, and for organisations with 100+ employees, they must now report on gender pay gaps.
With so much change taking place, we wanted to understand the effects of the directive within HR specifically.
Our main interest was in the possible impact that salary transparency within job adverts would have. Where salary ranges are now clear to candidates from the very beginning of the hiring process, we wondered if this would reduce the number of candidates negotiating on their compensation later on down the line.
To investigate this, we conducted a poll where we asked 184 senior HR & People leaders the question:
Do you think salary transparency in job adverts will reduce salary negotiations at the final offer stage?
