Robotics Software Engineer – Calibration Tooling (Contract)
📍 Location: London or Germany (Hybrid – 1 day onsite)
💰 Rate: Flexible
🕒 Contract: 6 Months
The Company
My client is one of Europe’s fastest-growing AI companies, developing next-generation autonomous driving technology. Backed by over $1bn in funding, they’re building advanced AI systems that enable vehicles to understand and navigate complex real-world environments. As they continue to scale, they’re investing in the tooling and infrastructure that supports their robotics and calibration teams.
The Opportunity
This is a hands-on contract role focused on building the software tooling that supports robotics and calibration engineers.
Rather than developing core algorithms, you’ll build diagnostics, visualisation, reporting and workflow tooling that helps engineers understand, investigate and resolve calibration issues more efficiently.
Working closely with robotics and calibration teams, you’ll combine strong Python engineering with robotics domain knowledge to improve the tools behind a cutting-edge autonomous vehicle platform.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Build tooling for robotics calibration, diagnostics and debugging
- Develop reporting and visualisation tools for algorithm outputs
- Create software that helps engineers investigate and triage system behaviour
- Work closely with robotics engineers to improve engineering workflows
- Build automation around reporting and diagnostics where appropriate
- Document solutions and contribute to long-term tooling improvements
- Primarily develop in Python, with some C++ where required
What They’re Looking For
- Strong commercial experience with Python (C++ beneficial)
- Background in robotics software engineering
- Experience building engineering tooling, diagnostics or visualisation platforms
- Knowledge of robotics systems such as SLAM, perception, localisation, planning or calibration
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Experience working in production robotics or autonomous systems environments
Nice to Have
- Camera or LiDAR calibration experience
- Autonomous vehicles or robotics platforms
- Experience with reporting, workflow automation or diagnostic tooling
Why Join?
- Join one of Europe’s leading AI and autonomous vehicle companies
- Work on cutting-edge robotics technology with real-world impact
- High-rate contract on a fast-moving engineering programme
- Collaborative team working alongside world-class robotics engineers
- Opportunity to influence tooling used across a growing autonomous driving platform
