The primary focus of this role is to drive efficient cloud resource utilization, implement cost optimization techniques, and ensure effective management of cloud expenses. The Cloud Cost Optimization Specialist will play a pivotal role in enhancing financial reporting, workflow management, and supporting agile decisionmaking across multiple cloud services. • Cost management of all service costs • Creating a service cost model for our private cloud
- Strong understanding of public cloud services, with a focus on Azure and GCP. Understanding of cloud providers, platforms and configurations and familiarity with workload usage/consumption patterns on cloud.
- Good understanding of billing on cloud platforms (incl. impact of usage patterns on TCO)
- Ability to support agile decision making across multiple cloud services, with short-cycle analytics and problem solving.
- Ability to develop effective reporting schemes/metrics to maintain strong control on usage and billing of cloud services.
- Experience in cloud infrastructure, cost reporting, and optimization at scale.
- Affinity to Finance with basic knowledge of accounting and controlling.
- Motivated to understand cloud service costs in detail, including discount models.
- Desire to work with new technologies and experience with scripting and automation.
- Familiarity with cloud management tools such as Azure Cost Management, Azure Cost Management & Billing; Policy; Budgets; Advisor, GCP Cloud Billing Reports; monitoring & reporting tools; and BI tools like Tableau.
- Hands-on experience with GCP environment (navigating resources, check configuration,
- perform maintenance and configuration tasks, investigate anomalies)
- Experience crafting critical metrics in easily consumable reports.
- Practical knowledge of SQL and experience with large datasets.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently and in a team on multiple projects.
- Ability to connect with stakeholders at all levels and identify service improvement opportunities. Bring increased business value through seeing the bigger picture, collaboration, and alignment of diverse needs.
- Relevant certifications such as Azure, GCP, or FinOps Practitioner.
- Experience in capacity forecasting, financial reporting, and workflow management in a service operations environment.
- Analytic and conceptual thinking and problem-solving capabilities
- Degree or equivalent relevant experience required. Experience will be evaluated based on the core competencies for the role.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with public/private cloud platforms (Azure, GCP, etc.).
- Good knowledge of Google Cloud (GCP) services
- Expertise in scripting and automating cost and billing reports for at least one public cloud.
- Proficiency in tools such as Azure Cost Management, Azure Cost Management & Billing, Policy, Budgets, Advisor, and GCP Cloud Billing Reports.
- Experience with capacity forecasting, cloud cost optimization techniques, and Azure services.
- FinOps Practitioner certifications.
- Bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field (such as Computer Science, Engineering)
- Fluent English in speech and writing (at least C1)
- Fluent German in speech and writing (at least C1)
