About the role
This is a senior, highly visible role for someone who lives and breathes application and API security. You’ll be the go-to technical expert for the EMEA field team: working directly with customers’ engineering and security teams, shaping secure architectures for modern web applications, APIs and AI-powered services, and helping win some of the most strategic deals in the region.
You’ll split your time between the customer and the whiteboard: presenting to executives one day and running a hands-on proof of value with developers the next.
What you’ll do
- Act as the technical expert for application, API and AI security across EMEA, supporting sales teams on key opportunities.
- Run product demonstrations, evaluations and proofs of value, remotely and on site.
- Design secure reference architectures for microservices, REST/GraphQL APIs and AI front ends across WAF, CDN, API protection and AI firewall technologies.
- Be a trusted advisor to customers’ engineering and product leaders, explaining risk and trade-offs in business terms.
- Lead integration projects with partners, enterprises and service providers.
- Support RFI and RFP responses and shape technical proposals.
- Create white papers, configuration guides and talks for industry events and internal training.
- Mentor engineers and help raise AppSec expertise across the wider technical community.
What you’ll bring
- Several years working with web applications and APIs, with a strong focus on application security.
- Deep knowledge of the OWASP Top 10 and the OWASP API Security Top 10, secure coding patterns, input validation and schema enforcement.
- Hands-on experience with API gateways (such as Apigee, Kong, Azure API Management or AWS API Gateway) and how to secure them: WAF, bot defence and schema validation.
- Strong understanding of authentication and authorisation: OAuth2, JWT, session management, mTLS.
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS or GCP) and Kubernetes or a service mesh (Istio/Envoy).
- Confidence in front of customers: you can engage a room, explain complex topics simply and help close deals.
- Fluent English.
