Freelance Technical Product Owner
Contract: 6 months initially (with possible extension)
Start date: ASAP
Location: Remote (occasional on-site work, ~1 day/month in Frankfurt or Berlin)
Eligibility: Must have the right to work as a freelancer in the EU
About the Role
We are seeking a freelance Product Owner with a strong technical background to lead the definition, development, and delivery of platform-related products and services. The ideal candidate will combine product management expertise with hands-on experience in DevOps environments and cloud infrastructure, ensuring alignment between business objectives and technical execution.
Key Responsibilities
Define and drive the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for internal platform or infrastructure-related products
Own and maintain the product backlog, ensuring priorities are well defined and aligned with stakeholder needs
Collaborate closely with engineering teams to translate product requirements into actionable technical deliverables
Lead Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, and quarterly planning sessions
Deliver key Product Management artifacts, including roadmaps, specifications, user stories, and feature descriptions
Ensure technical feasibility and sustainability of product decisions, particularly in DevOps and cloud contexts
Must-Have Experience
Proven experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager, with full accountability for strategy, roadmap, and backlog management of technical products
Strong hands-on understanding of DevOps tools and practices, including CI/CD pipelines and artifact/image registries (e.g. Artifactory)
Demonstrated experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum), including 2-week sprint cycles and quarterly planning
Broad technical understanding of services within major public clouds (AWS, GCP, or Azure), particularly:
Kubernetes
IAM and RBAC
Observability/Monitoring
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and infrastructure automation concepts
Proven track record of producing and maintaining Product Management deliverables such as roadmaps, feature backlogs, and product documentation
Must-Have Language Skills
Fluent English (written and spoken, minimum B2 level)
