Ebola Appeal

The DEC brings 13 leading UK aid charities together in times of crisis: Action Aid, Age International, British Red Cross, CAFOD, Care International, Christian Aid, Concern Worldwide, Islamic Relief, Oxfam, Plan UK, Save the Children, Tearfund and World Vision; all collectively raising money to reach those in need quickly.

Reasons for supporting the Ebola Appeal

Three months after the DEC launched its Ebola Crisis Appeal, the total number of Ebola cases has passed 20,000 and more than 8,000 people have the disease, which continues to create deep hunger and poverty in the worst-hit areas of West Africa.

The appeal has so far raised £30 million allowing DEC agencies continue to work day in day out to educate people living in high-risk areas, provide treatment to sufferers and support survivors of the virus. Despite some small steps forward in the fight against the virus, the humanitarian fallout from the epidemic is worsening and the consequences are predicted to impact people’s lives for years to come.
